About PEP
Intentionally designed, PEP ensures students are safe, happy, and engaged while making the afternoon less stressful. We accomplish this through a combination of high-quality programming and professional staff. Our PEP staff members do more than supervise—they build lasting relationships with each and every student. Learn more about our program at
www.polytechnic.org/pep.All of our programs are guided by PEP’s core values and purpose, inspired by and aligned with Poly’s guiding statements:
Core values:
Extended time at Polytechnic is a valuable learning opportunity.
Learning can occur anywhere, at any time, from anyone.
Students need to feel cared for, listened to, and autonomous.
Students are capable problem-solvers.
Poly’s community is unique.
Purpose:
The Polytechnic Extended Program (PEP) provides a space where students practice the skills needed to be contributing members of our school community and the world. This is done through directed activities and unstructured time, while surrounded by trained, caring staff.
After-School
clubPEP is the center for after-school activities under the supervision of quality staff and faculty from school dismissal until 6:15 p.m. daily. Programming is included in a single, hourly fee*.
Classes challenge students to dig deeply into a topic. Topics have included coding, dance, robotics, art, penmanship, chess, sports, Spanish, and reading.
clubPEP also provides a performance opportunity in the form of a musical! Our production gives students in grades 3-8 the ability to apply skills acquired through Poly’s robust performing arts curriculum.
Club Time is unstructured time that leverages our unique community to promote student relationships and personal growth. Students take part in outdoor and indoor activities like games, crafts, team challenges, imaginative play, and more!
*The musical has a fixed fee.
Financial aid may be available to assist with Poly Extended Program activities
Balance first: time to rest and recharge
After dismissal, students who are participating in PEP are invited to relax, engage with friends, and enjoy a snack. This provides critical time for students to unwind after the school day and helps students remain focused, engaged, and happy during their subsequent activities.
Focused homework space
Students in the Lower and Middle School are provided a quiet, supervised space where they can work toward homework completion Monday through Thursday. These spaces are facilitated by staff and faculty who provide basic support and feedback to all students. Computers are available for online assignments.
busPEP: Poly’s bus program
To increase its sustainability practices, reduce local traffic, and support our students and families, PEP offers transportation to and from school, daily when school is in session, through our K-12 bus program.
busPEP offers two routes daily. Each route has a morning option that arrives by 8:15 a.m. In order to support students who participate in extracurricular activities, two departure times are offered in the afternoon.
PEP regularly evaluates routes and stops offered in an effort to better serve the needs of the Poly community. Please note: Schedules are subject to change, and new routes or stops may be added as appropriate.
Families can use the bus on a monthly or daily basis. In the 2021-2022 school year, the cost was $125 per month or $10 per day. Financial aid may be available for this expense. Additional information can be found at
