Which Poly tradition or activity do you look forward to each school year?
One of the Poly traditions I’ve loved since first hearing about it is the PolyGlobal annual trips around the world. These trips introduce the Poly community to different cultures, histories, and people. I was fortunate enough to travel to Cambodia with the Global Initiative Program during my freshman year. The impact this trip had on me is truly immeasurable, and the trips have become something I eagerly look forward to each year.

What new passion or interest did you discover while at Poly?
Since my first year at Poly, I’ve had the privilege of taking a ceramics class every year. I never would have guessed that ceramics would play such an important role in maintaining my mental health. Crafting bowls, pots, mugs, vases, and more has been more therapeutic than I expected. Maintaining a balance between schoolwork and hobbies is incredibly important to me, so having the opportunity to come into the studio during my free periods or extra time has been a dream.

What has been a challenging moment that you’ve had to overcome at Poly?
A difficult challenge I overcame during my freshman year was suffering a severe concussion in the middle of midterms. As a freshman, this concussion felt like the end of the world for me, especially since it was my first time taking midterms and I felt completely knocked off track. Fortunately, Poly’s faculty was incredibly accommodating, supporting me in every way I needed—even after I was cleared from my concussion—so I could feel safe and ready to learn again. Looking back on this experience, I’m proud of my resilience during such a stressful time, and I’m grateful for the support I received along the way.
