Poly is a very welcoming community. We are all friends with each other. My peers greeted me with open arms and a lot of my close friends that I have now have been with me since the very first day.
What new passion or interest did you discover at Poly?A new passion that I discovered while at Poly was Mock Trial. At my old school, we did not have a Mock Trial class or team so I did not know what Mock Trial was or how a court trial worked. Last year was the first year that Poly had a Mock Trial team so I decided to try it out. Ever since then, I fell in love with Mock Trial. I loved how you can act, poke holes in the other side’s arguments and witness statements, and the adrenaline that comes with the attempts to dodge or work around lawyer’s questions on Cross Examination. Additionally, the coaches that we have on Mock Trial are extraordinary. They are supportive and help us throughout our journey of Mock Trial.
Which Poly tradition or activity do you look forward to each school year? Each school year, I look forward to the Poly’s Got Talent Show, the All Middle School Dance, and the Poly Pet and Hobby Show. I love the Poly’s Got Talent Show because I love performing, demonstrating the skills that I have, and collaborating with my friends for the performances. I also love how we get the opportunity to host and introduce the performers if we do not feel like performing. I always look forward to the All Middle School Dance because it is the one time of the year where I can dance and play with my friends from sixth and seventh grade. It is an entirely different experience than from the same grade dances with other schools. Finally, I always look forward to the Poly Pet and Hobby Show because I get to explore what displays and work that other people have done that year. Additionally, this was the first Poly event that I went to when Ifirst got accepted into Poly so it has been a reminder of when I first came to Poly.
