The Poly Boys Tennis team earned another victory on Monday, this time against rival Flintridge Prep. The boys showed good determination overcoming an injury to their co-Captain Andy Yoong to secure the set wins needed for the overall team win. Standouts include First Doubles Benji Fernandez and Cooper Thompson sweeping their 3 sets, and Captain Dario Soatto earning some hard-fought victories to lead his team. The Panthers showed good grit and determination even in their set losses, with #3 Singles Freshman Luke Haenisch pushing one set to tiebreaks and #2 Singles Sophomore Dylan Wilson forcing multiple others to 4+ games. Alternate Ilan Brusselaers came off the bench to replace Yoong and paired up with Asher Singla to get a few victories for Doubles 3 while the Freshmen duo of Nathan Taing and Nathaniel Karafilis-Spensley played #2 Doubles and won two important sets before being subbed out as Poly emptied its bench. The boys are back at it on Wednesday away at Chadwick before facing these Flintridge Prep Wolves again away in Arcadia Friday.
