Pasadena Water & Power Recognizes Sustainability-Focused Student Art
The Pasadena Water & Power Department awarded two Poly students, Keira L. ’27 and Magdalena S. ’28, with art awards for their annual Water is Life Art Contest. The contest focuses on sustainability and water conservation, as seen in both student artists’ work.
The awards were presented to them at the Pasadena City Council meeting during the summer. The Metropolitan Water District recently announced that it will feature Keira’s artwork in its 2026 student art calendar.
“This award illustrates the self-motivation and time commitment of our students to participate in art competitions outside of school,” said Arnor Bieltvedt, K-12 Visual Arts Chair and teacher. “Being recognized with first and third place in such an important and respected annual competition as the annual Water is Life Art Contest is quite an accomplishment and honor for our visual arts students. This particular competition is aimed at the important function of art to educate and inspire, focusing on learning to respect and protect our precious environment and drinking water.”
