So thus begins the epic conclusion to the last day at the Beijing No. 4 School Summer Chinese Culture Experience Camp. We awoke in the morning to a rather melancholy atmosphere because of our knowledge that our buddies Lennart, Tricia (kind of sorta our friend by default), and Russell were about to leave later in the early afternoon. We began the day with the usual weird tasting food for breakfast and we then proceeded to enjoy our last few hours with our new friends. After Lennart’s emotional departure, Zhong Laoshi, Mark, Mackenzie, Rares, and I took a taxi to Silk Street for “Round 2” of our bargaining expedition. I ignited “Round 2” with a successful purchase of a Blackhawks jersey for 180 rmb. The “shopkeeper,” a relatively young woman believed that Zhonglaoshi and I were boyfriend and girlfriend. She also attempted to guess the ages of all of us and concluded that I was 20, Mark was 22, Mackenzie was 19, Zhonglaoshi was 24 (lmaorofllol what???). Mark, Rares, and I then separated from the females (Zhonglaoshi and Mackenzie) to go buy more goodies such as bags, chopsticks, etc. “Round 2” officially came to a conclusion when Rares bought himself a samarai sword and we left the Silk Street market. All of us then ate at a random restaurant across the street and ordered tea and pudding. We all then fought through crowds of people and took the subway back to the school where we all met in Mackenzie’s room to write the blog. We also informed Matt on what happened throughout the day. And at this very moment, we are all getting ready for the concluding “Disco” at 6:30 (despite the fact that we all are dreading it). Tomorrow will be another big day for us as my family (mom and dad) will treat all of us to Peking Duck for lunch and we will all be on our separate ways (Zhonglaoshi will leave to Taiwan, Mark is staying in Beijing, Mackenzie is going home, Matt is going to Hong Kong, and I will go to Shan Dong with my parents.
