Student Voices: First day of school

The start of the school year means new pencils, backpacks, and teachers. This year, for Upper School students, it also means a new campus. Over the summer, Poly’s construction team completed the science-math-library building and renovated Boswell Library, which is now home to visual arts and film classrooms and a gallery for student work. Read on as Ryan Schiller '13 shares his impressions from Poly's re-imagined South Campus.

"As the massive Poly transformation grinds to a halt, we are experiencing a whole new world. The introduction of the enhanced facilities has only augmented the already invigorated start-of-school atmosphere. The gorgeous science-math-library building with its "new car" smell wreaks of opportunity and challenge. Although it may lack the familiarity that only time can provide, its abilities are first-rate for empowering teachers. The first time I walked inside the third floor library, I caught my breath and realized just how blessed I was to be attending a place like Poly. These new facilities will go far in advancing the ability of teachers to edify students, and I can only hope that someday my children will have the opportunity to utilize such phenomenal spaces."
