The application process for the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School is outlined below. 

Our main admission entry points are kindergarten, sixth, seventh, and ninth grades. Applications for other grade-levels are fully considered, but admission is solely based on space availability due to student attrition.

  • Steps to Apply (Grades K-5)

    Each year, Poly enrolls 45 children for our kindergarten class. Children applying to kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2025. Grades 1-5 are considered “non-entry” years and applications will only be considered if space becomes available through student attrition.

    Lower School applications for the 2025-2026 school year are no longer available as the deadline has passed. Supporting documents (statements, transcripts, etc.) for grades K-12 are due by Jan. 24, 2025. Click here to access your Admission Portal.  

    We encourage all families to submit materials early. To help the Admission Office process applications in a timely fashion, your child’s file must be complete by the noted deadlines. A completed file contains the following:

    Online Application
    Complete, submit, and pay the $100 application fee.
    Required for: All applicants for grades K-5
    Deadline: Dec. 9, 2024
    Fee waivers: Contact Financial Aid Director Lindsay Morales

    Teacher Recommendation
    Each family should request an online Recommendation Form to be sent to the applicant’s current teacher(s) after November 1 through our Admission Portal. The applicant's teacher will receive a secure link to complete the confidential form.
    Required for: All applicants for grades K-5
    Deadline: Jan. 24, 2025

    Visit Day 
    More information about the Visit Day for applicants to the 2025-26 school year will be available in October 2024.

    Transcripts
    Poly asks for school reports from the previous academic year and first semester/trimester of the application year. The online form should be signed and sent to your child’s current school after November 1. Poly requires all reports/transcripts to be sent to us directly by the school.
    Required for: Applications for grades 2-5 only

    Parent/Guardian Statement

    Required for: All applications for grades K-5

    Parent/Guardian Conversation (Optional)
    Parents/guardians of Kindergarten applicants who are new to Poly are invited to meet with a member of the Lower School Admission Committee. These optional, informal conversations are opportunities to learn about each applicant family's educational aspirations and interest in joining the Poly community.

  • Steps to Apply (Grades 6-8)

    Each year, Poly enrolls 20-25 students for grade 6 and 8-10 students for grade 7. Grade 8* is considered a “non-entry” year, and admission will only be considered if space becomes available through student attrition. 

    *Please note: Enrolled students to grade 8 who were not able to take a world language course in Chinese, French, Latin or Spanish in 7th grade will be asked to participate in summer coursework prior to the start of 8th grade at Poly.

    Engagement Opportunities
    6th Grade Visit Day
    Applicants are invited to campus and will participate in group and individual activities with members of the Poly Admission team or Middle School faculty.
    Required for All applicants for grade 6.
    Schedule: Appointments will be available in the portal

    7th Grade Student Interview
    Applicants are placed in pairs and are invited to participate in a virtual interview with a member of the Admission team or Middle School faculty.
    Required for All applicants for grade 7.
    Schedule: Appointments will be available in the portal

    More information about the Middle School Student Assessment will be available in the portal in December 2024. Polytechnic School will not require standardized testing for students applying to grades 6 to 8 for the 2025-2026 school year. To review our policies, please read our official statement.

    Schedule: Appointments will be available in the portal

    Student Statement

    Applicants are asked to respond to short-essay questions to get to know each student better. These questions should be completed by the applicant without any support, so that members of Poly's Admission Committee can get a sense of each student's writing style and authentic opinions.
    Required for: All applications for grades 6-8
    Deadline: Jan. 24, 2025
