Students will explore international, national, state, and local news in politics, culture, and science. Global hot spots, upcoming elections in the US, as well as state, county, and local news, along with science and technology news, will be presented orally by students to students as well as turned into jeopardy fun on Fridays. The use of the New York Times, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, and Economist will be coupled with the internet skills of students to explore what's hot and what's not hot. Students will have an opportunity to write short essays on hot topics as well as work together to summarize collectively what they have identified in 3 weeks that thinking students should know concerning the world today in a culminating class project.
