Poly's Got Talent Shines Once Again

Poly’s Got Talent, our Middle School talent show, brought down the house on February 28 with an evening filled with unforgettable performances. The audience was treated to a showcase of student talent, many of whom stepped onto the stage for the very first time. The event was a resounding success, from musical acts to choreographed dances.

The talent show, introduced four years ago during the COVID pandemic, was initially conceived as a way to bring the community together and provide students with a platform to showcase their creativity. The Middle School Student Council, alongside K-12 Performing Arts Chair Brady Frome, has continued to nurture and grow the event.

“The Middle School had never hosted a talent show before, and it was something I felt would greatly benefit our community,” said Brady. “Our first virtual event had over 200 audience members logged in on Zoom, and we knew it would be a hit. We’ve been going strong every year since.”

This year’s performances were nothing short of spectacular. From newcomers stepping into the spotlight for the first time to seasoned performers returning for another year, every act radiated passion. The audience, filled with students, parents, guardians, and even grandparents, clapped along and swayed to the music. A highlight of the evening was a sing-along portion featuring the classics Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing and Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up, bringing the crowd together in a memorable musical moment.

Middle School President Lucy R-S. ’29 played a key role in organizing the event and shared her thoughts on what it meant to participate: “Sometimes it could be a little stressful, but it was a wonderful talent show. I am so grateful for all the people who helped make this happen. I think it is amazing to have a place for all the Middle School to show off their talents or just have fun and do something they like to do and be celebrated for that.” As an emcee and stage manager, she worked closely with the performers and faculty to ensure the event ran smoothly, ensuring that every act felt supported and celebrated.

“Poly’s Got Talent is a mesmerizing event where I can partner with my friends and have fun to explore and showcase a talent that we may or may not have mastered,” said Elizabeth C. ’29, who created an incredible trailer to accompany the event. “It was also an opportunity to hone-in my recruiting skills to get as many people involved as possible. Poly’s Got Talent is a Middle School tradition that I will always treasure and remember.”

Throughout the years, Poly’s Got Talent has evolved into more than just a show—it has become a cherished tradition. Students feel empowered to step outside of their comfort zones and share their performances. We’re excited to see Poly’s Got Talent continue to inspire and uplift our Middle School community for years to come.
