The Aztecs of Mark Keppel traveled to Poly for the Panthers first home match of the season. The Aztecs fluid offense kept the Panthers off balance through the first two sets. But the Panthers reached deep into their reserves and pawed their way back into competitiveness, forcing a fourth set. Despite wishing to put the JV teams warming up off for one more set, Panthers lost focus and the last set to drop their home opener.
It was the second consecutive loss for the Panthers as sophomore outside hitter "Silent" Sam Andrade lamented, "This is the first match I've lost in my entire Poly career." Junior setter "Jumpin'" Jack Gomez countered, "Yep!"
