Poly’s José Melgoza has been selected by the University of Chicago as an Outstanding Educator. José is an Upper School history teacher and executive director of Partnership for Success!
The distinguished award has existed for more than three decades. Students accepted into the University of Chicago Class of 2024 were asked to nominate an educator whose guidance has helped them along the path toward intellectual growth. Responses were received from thousands of students in recognition of educators who have positively impacted their lives. The award will be presented in a virtual ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. CDT featuring UChicago President Robert Zimmer, Provost Ka Yee C. Lee, and Trustee Greg Wendt.
The University of Chicago is honored to recognize excellence in teaching and sincerely congratulates this year’s Outstanding Educator award winners, who are exceptional in their field and role models for all students. The University deeply appreciates the lively minds who thirst for knowledge that these educators have nurtured and inspired. UChicago thanks them for going above and beyond the call of duty every day and leaving an impression that will be carried over a lifetime.
