Debate Team Kicks Off in the Upper School

Poly’s Upper School Debate hosted its Second Annual Opening Weekend (August 17-18, 2024) to kick off the debate season. Students from 9th to 12th grade attended an informative two-day workshop. Incoming students saw demo debates of the various formats offered at the Upper School and got the chance to connect with older student mentors in the program. The debate season is year-round, with the first tournament in mid-September.

“A lot of hard work by our students and coaches makes this year an exciting season. We're attending more tournaments, and we've grown by over 30%!” said Norman Frazier, Co-Coordinator for Poly Debate and Moot Court. “Most importantly, it was amazing to see a lot of mentorship at our Opening Weekend—older students guiding new students coming in—which gives me joy and hope about the community we're building.”
