Summer Greetings from your College Counselors

Dear Rising Seniors,

We understand that you need a much deserved break from school, and rest assured that we, too, are looking forward to some time to rejuvenate.

For many students, however, summer can be the ideal time to take care of some tasks related to the college application process. Some of you have expressed an interest in doing this and so we thought it would be helpful to provide you with a summer checklist (please click on the link to download the document).

We recognize that many of you will be traveling, working, or enrolled in summer courses and we do not want to add to your list of obligations so keep in mind that this is not a mandatory assignment. That said, spending even just a couple of hours each week during the summer researching schools online or working on your art portfolio can save you a great deal of time later on in the fall when your time is even more limited. And, The Fiske Guide and other college related books make for great summer reading material at the beach or on an airplane ride!

Please take a moment to peruse the list of tasks and see what things you are able to “cross off your list” during the summer. Regardless of how busy you are, or what your travel plans may be, all of you should at least be able to take care of simple tasks like registering for your fall tests. Please refer to the customized testing plan that you received in your spring meeting with your counselor.

Wherever your summer plans may take you—from traveling to exotic locations, to scooping ice cream at 31 Flavors, to summer school courses, football two-a-days, or simply babysitting the neighborhood kids, enjoy the change of pace! We look forward to seeing you in the fall, but in the event that you need to contact the counseling office before school begins, please call or email Ms. Kupchyan who will be working at Poly during the summer months.

With best wishes for a terrific summer,

Mrs. Cotti, Ms. Ventura, Ms. Zetlian, and Ms. Kupchyan
