Waitlists

Students hoping for a waitlist offer should know that waitlist news is typically released beginning the second week of May, at the earliest , and may continue through the summer months. After May 1, it will take a few days for colleges to receive and sort the mail. Depending on their calculated enrollment numbers, colleges will either extend offers from the waitlist or continue waiting to see if there is space available, as they experience some summer melt.

Many students have asked what they can do to demonstrate interest to the waitlisted school. Counselors encourage students to meet with their counselor for ways to express interest, if they have not already done so. Students should check their phones and e-mail messages daily, as this is often the method colleges use to contact them.
