The following is a quick recap of some of the most important tasks that parents and students need to be completing for the regular round of applications. For a more detailed checklist, students and parents should access the Naviance checklist under the “About Me” tab.
Financial Aid: Check for upcoming deadlines and file the CSS Profile through College Board. FAFSA will be available online for parents on Jan. 1, 2013.
Student Athletes: Register through the NCAA Clearinghouse and submit student test scores.
Test Scores: Send student test scores through the College Board or ACT to all colleges you are applying to during the regular round by their respective application deadlines. (Remember: You do NOT send AP scores—just SAT and/or ACT scores.
Sending Test Scores and Score Choice
It is the student's responsibility to sendofficial score reportsto each college on his or her list. Please visitcollegeboard.comand/oract.orgto do this, and make note of all testing deadlines.
In addition, it is the student's responsibility to abide by the college's score choice reporting policy for the SAT and in some cases, the ACT. A list of policies can be found on College Board's website underScore Choice, but also check the college's website to be absolutely sure. The College Counseling Office does not usually send student test scores from Poly, as colleges do not consider them "official" copies.
Remember AP scores are not officially required for admission, although they are used in the admissions process at some schools. Colleges do NOT require official copies of AP scores and will gladly accept a student's self-reported scores on the application. Students will have plenty of time to send AP scores during the summer after graduation when all of their AP scores from Poly have officially been recorded with the College Board.
