What to do if you're on a waitlist

Students hoping for a waitlist offer should know that waitlist news is typically released after May 1 and may continue through the summer months. After May 1, it can take a few days for colleges to tabulate their acceptances and determine which institutional priorities might be met in extending a waitlist offer. Depending on their calculated enrollment numbers, colleges will either extend offers from the waitlist or continue waiting to see if there is space available.

 

Many students have asked what they can do to demonstrate interest to a waitlisted school. Counselors encourage students to meet with their counselor to learn about appropriate ways in which to express interest. Students should check their phones and e-mail messages daily, as this is often the method colleges use to contact them.
